Making sense of non sense

No there’s not a spelling mistake. To me, there is a subtle difference between ‘nonsense’ and ‘non sense’. Nonsense is bordering on “stuff and rubbish”, but non sense are things that just don’t make sense.

I have recently received all sorts of information through my website all about the vaccination program currently underway to prevent the spread of COVID 19. They range from, “its a very good idea”, through to heralding the arrival of the four horseman of the apocalypse. At the end of the day it boils down to information and trust.

When it comes to information, there’s a great little cartoon of a man meeting a salesman on his doorstep. The salesman is trying to sell him a complete copy of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. The man on the doorstep is saying, “Why would I need that. I’ve got a teenager inside the house who knows everything already!”.

In contrast, my late father, before he died, said to me, “The older I get, the less I know”.

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” Socrates.

Then there’s trust…

This is an entry in my journal that to this day still shocks me, as it shocked others.

Having tried and tried to find an answer, path and destination for my heart, I have finally given up seeking. So, now blindfolded, I must now simply trust in my Creator. No more can I strive to find the path with the faltering lamp of my faith. I must even allow this flame to flicker out and watch the glowing wick finally disappear in a small puff of smoke into the inky black of night.

Am I truly prepared to trust Him with my path?

Later in my meditation I found myself standing on top of a high mountain. I ask the mountain, “Can I trust you not to crumble and break under the weight of my body?”. I get no answer from the mountain, even though I listen intently. All I can hear is the wind.

In many ways this is a stupid question as the mountain would never crumble under my weight, and yet when taking that blindfolded step, it is a very real question.

At the end of the day I trust the One…

The One, who spins electrons around atoms,
The moon around the earth,
The planets around the sun,
And stars around the galaxies
The same One stands beside me with an open hand of power ready to carry me.

So I simply pray for His guidance and help in the day that is to come.

All I can do is take care…

To take care of every breath that I take.
To take care of every step that I make.
To take care how I open and close a door.
To take care of every thought that enters my mind.
To take care of every word that comes from my mouth.
To take care of every gaze that my eyes make upon another that it may contain no judgement.

May this spring bring you joy and enlightenment.
